July 3rd – July 18th
Lafrowda Festival is an annual event celebrating community arts and first took place in 1996 developing from a music festival into what is now a two week community arts festival. Lafrowda is the ancient name for the church lands where the village of St Just in Penwith stands today.
More recently, it has come to stand for community co-operation, a celebration of local heritage, and a showcase for some of the finest artistic, theatrical and musical talent in the area. A wide range of organisations take part in the festival and there is something happening every day, from music and comedy to drama and dance
One of the highlights of the fortnight is Lafrowda Day takes place on the third Saturday in July when the roads are closed and decorations go up. From hip hop to harmony, from folk to funk, there are twelve hours of free entertainment to suit every taste along with street performers, stalls, refreshments, bouncy castles and, of course, three spectacular processions.
Mount Haven provide an ideal base for the Lafrowda Day, there are a number of local buses that pick up right outside the hotel. If you require more information about our room rates during this period please do not hesitate to contact a memeber of our staff and we will be more than happy to help.
