Soak up some Cornish culture at Mount Haven in May
The views, the beaches, the coastline, the moors and all of the Poldark stuff that Cornwall is famed for. There’s a lot happening here in May, and if you’d like to travel a little further afield why not take in some of the stunning locations where the BBC filmed the hugely popular Poldark series, such as Bodmin, St Austell, Padstow and St Agnes Head. A much nearer Poldark location to explore is Porthgwarra.

Not a Poldark location, but a place of staggering Cornish atmosphere and beauty, and a hotbed of smuggling back in the day is Prussia Cove, which is walkable from Mount Haven.
Film crews have been coming for years to this land deeply entrenched in and enriched with fascinating, vibrant culture.
Much of that culture is showcased in May, in festivals across the county. Some of the festivals are relatively new, some go back centuries.
All of the arts are covered, Cornwall having produced great writers, poets, painters and artists.
But it’s not all highbrow. At festivals staged across Cornwall, there’s plenty of lighter content and activities; things like nature trails, mask-making, river cruises and, for those that like a bit of spooky culture, plenty of guided tours around Cornwall’s most haunted spots.
